Vacuum paddle-/ rotary dryers
Our Merto-Dry vacuum paddle dryers have proven themselves repeatedly and can be used universally. They can be used especially for drying batches of damp crumbly or powdery crystalline products. But papescent wet materials, which fall apart as the drying progresses and which are granular or in powder form in their dry state, can also be processed. Our paddle dryers can be equipped with fast-running knife mills or so-called choppers for products that tend to agglomerate.

Vacuum paddle dryers are characterized by minimum space requirements with the largest possible heat transfer surface and by the thermally gentle handling of products. Compared with well known vacuum drying cabinets, they have the advantage of having largely automated product feeds and deliveries and a high drying speed because of the continual shifting of the goods on the heating surfaces. The entire drying process is hermetically sealed while in progress. This results in the following considerable benefits.

Steam or heat carrier oil is generally used as the heating media. Warm water or heating / cooling brine could also be used. The paddles loosen up the dry material, mixes it radially and axially, thereby ensuring the dry product receives an even thermal treatment as well as a homogenous structure.

Paddles / Lagerung and seal
A gear motor with variable speed drive provides the propulsion. Models with hydraulic drive can also be offered. The central component of our paddle dryer is the cylindrical housing with the integrated paddle unit. The housing is heated and the paddle shaft and the paddle arms can also be heated as an option.
The paddle unit on the dryer housing is sealed in a simple case with double-acting packing glands. For higher requirements, double-acting gas or liquid-sealed axial face seals are used, especially in the EX range, or for toxic or pharmaceutical products.

Air purification / filter
To separate the developing dust, the dryers are generally equipped with self-cleaning vapor filters to ensure that no product can get into the following units such as the condensate separators or the vacuum pumps. Pulse-jet cleaning is used during repeated cycles to clean off the filter hoses or filter cartridges using nitrogen or air pulses; this allows the adhering dust to fall back into the dryer drum.
Simple thick boiler plate, wear-resistant steel, stainless steel of various qualities or nickel based alloys such as Hastelloy are used for any parts that come into contact with any product, depending on the requirements. The overall sizes of our Merto-Dry paddle dryers range from 50 liters for the laboratory sized unit to systems with a volumetric capacity of 30 m3.
We offer our systems for various implementation requirements.

The peripherals for the paddle dryer such as the vacuum pump stands, condensers, system controllers or heating/cooling units can also be supplied on request.
Technical facility:
Laboratory studies are generally mandatory in order to design the technology involved in dryers and filters. A technical facility with equipment from various technologies is available for this purpose. This equipment is portable so it can also be used at our customer's site in order to carry out material-related examinations.
you will find more information about our technical facility here: THE DVA TECHNICAL FACILITY
